I don't really know where to start, God has just blessed me in so many ways. It would take me a long time to say what all He has done for me, and my family. I haven't always been singing for the Lord. I played drums in a heavy metal band on, and off for about 10 years. I really got messed up in a world of sin. My direction was to play music and have fun, but the things that came with it corrupted my life, and took what should have been important to me into the back seat. I lived how I wanted to, and I didn't spend a lot of time with my family due to practicing 3 nights a week. It led me nowhere, but to a life of drugs pain and sorrow. I would smoke cigarettes, drink beer, and I even got into Crystal Meth for about a year. I would lay in the bed at night not being able to sleep asking God "help me get out of this" while my wife Dana laid beside me sleeping and not having a clue of what was going on. Some nights, I would lay in the bed for 6 hrs not sleeping and getting out of bed to work the next day. I was living a life of secrecy. In Luke 11:17," it says a house divided will not stand. Well shortly,our house fell apart, I had everything to lose my home, my family, and my trust to my wife. God was the only one who could help me and pull me out of this dark pit that I was in and He did. I said "Dear Lord Jesus I can't make it anymore without you I need your help, please help!!!" I will do what it takes to gain my family back. Then and there was the "Hope" the Blessed Hope!!! I laid in bed , cried with Dana and thanked God for His Grace and Mercy! It was joy unspeakable. Months later soon after that I was laying in bed at 5 in the morning the Lord woke me up, It sounded like a phone ringing I got up to find that there was no phone call. I thought "this is strange", When I laid back down I heard Romans 9:25 It says "As he saith also in O-see, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved". That morning he "called me" there's no turning back. Jesus has the ability to restore marriages and bring newness into our lives. Once you get yourself out of the way ,He can move for you. Romans 3:23 We all fall short of the glory of God .There is none good. No, not one. This is just one example of how we cannot live without Jesus.
My name is Dana Shields. I am the wife of baritone Josh Shields. We have been married 12 yrs. We have one child Colton and he is 9 yrs old. I was blessed to be born into a Christian family. My grandparents played a larger role as my spiritual leaders than my parents. At age 2, I was diagnosed with persisous anemia. I had to have shots of special medicine for months. My grandmother took me to Sand Lake, Michigan and the elders there prayed for me. When I was taken back to the doctor, they were amazed to see I no longer had the disease. God healed me! We went steadliy to church until we moved from Michigan to Georgia in 1985.When we moved to GA, my family only went to church periodically. I went to church on the church bus til I started working at 16. At 17, my parents divorced. As a young woman, I struggled to find my way. I was a C.E.O. Christian which means I went to church Christmas, Easter only. I thought God's grace was "flexible". I am ashamed to say that I used His precious grace as a doormat. At 21 yrs old, I got pregnant with my son Colton. Things were fine until I got to my 5 month and passed out at work. After being seen at the hospital, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I had to inject 4 shots of insulin a day throughout my pregnancy. My grandparents had found a church Cooper Hgts Church of God. Remembering that God is a healer, I began going to church anytime the doors were open. I did not care whether you were Baptist, Luthern,Church of God as long as you believed in JESUS as the one and only Son of God who was crucified on the cross for our sins and was buried and resurrected on the 3rd day, I wanted/needed the prayers. The doctors told me that my baby could be born blind or still-born but I trusted God. My son was born on 11-11-97 at 2:39 p.m. He was taken to the P.I.C.U. He spent 45 mins there and they brought him back to me. The nurse said,"there is nothing wrong with this baby". That is God! I really wish that I could tell you from there that I fully surrendered to the Lord and His Will for my life but I didn't. Josh was out in the world and I thought I had to go with him or I would lose him. At age 23, I went off the road in my car. I had a seizure. Dr David Rankin at Erlanger diagnosed me with epilepsy. Faced with never driving again and taking medicines that keep me sedated; I turned to God. I knew that I didn't deserve to recieve another healing in my life. I had not given God any glory. I had taken Him for granted. I went to church again everytime the doors were open. I had sown into bad ground and I had a lot of "religion" that God had to show me was worthless in His sight. I had to stop going with Josh and supporting his worldly lifestyle.It wasn't overnight because I had played with God. Despite the way that I had abused HIS grace after 2 years, He healed me!!!! I will never miss an opportunity to share what God has done for me. As wonderful as this was, God had more. God exposed Josh and the life that he was living. He took horrible things and changed our marriage and our life forever. After singing by myself for 2 years, on Sept 30, 2005, Shields of Faith was born. I have a new life, a new marriage and I thank God everyday for what He has done and is doing. I have so much more to share but I must hush for now. Hi. My name is Catrina Timmons. Many people recognize me, from singing with my family, The Hasty's, for more than 20 yrs. We received quite a bit of air play with several singles, but we are known for these two songs "Won't It Be Heaven" and "I'd Like To Talk It Over With Him". Also, for a couple of years, I sang with a local mixed group called Reborn, which consisted of former members of a group called the Hymnmaster's. Lastly, for over a year, 15 months to be exact, I sang nationally with Heirline. I sang the first and second alto on the "Alive In Christ" recording. I am also featured on that same recording with the song "There You Are". From that recording I was on the Number 1 hit single "You'll Never Run Out of the Blood" on the Singing News Charts in May of 2005.
